Together with the world-class cellist Sol Gabetta, the Basel Chamber Orchestra dedicates a concert to the Spanish magic of love. The little flying Cupid with bow and arrow has plenty to do in Manuel de Falla's "El amor brujo". He is not really successful, but the main thing is that the audience is enthusiastic.

At first, de Falla's love spell was his problem child: the original version for a flamenco dancer and a singer failed in Madrid. The symphonic suite into which he transformed the piece in 1916 was also not well received by the public. Only when de Falla reworked the suite into a one-act ballet and presented it in the U.S. did it become a worldwide success. And the Spaniard Francisco Coll García contributes a brand new concerto. An evening full of fire and tender love, happiness, longing and passion!
