Death Café – an inspiring space to talk about life and death!
Death Cafés offer a warm, welcoming space for open and relaxed conversations about life, death, and dying! The atmosphere is informal, with no structured questions or objectives. As your facilitators, we aim to provide a safe place for open dialogue and authentic connection over tea, coffee, and cake.
The format of a Death Café is that of a group-led discussion with no set agenda. Participants are invited to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels right for them. All contributions are welcome and there is also no obligation to share on topics where you may prefer to remain silent.
While grief may come up, Death Cafés are not meant to provide grief counselling or support but simply to open up a conversation about death in a comfortable, non-judgmental setting.
We offer this Death Café in line with the principles of the Death Café concept, namely that the event is offered on a not-for-profit basis, in an accessible, respectful and confidential space, and with no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action. Our intention in offering this event is to allow for deeper connection with the community, ease our natural fears around death and deepen our appreciation of life.
Wherever you are from, you are invited to join, connect, and share as much or as little as you like.
Your facilitators for this event are Martin Coul and Gay Saxby, both of whom are passionate about promoting genuine connection among people as a way to support a wholehearted experience of being alive.
